Our office is based in the KC Northland, and our projects span the Greater Kansas City area, including both Missouri and Kansas. As a Design + Build firm, we handle every project with intention, from the first idea to the last detail. Our work ranges from complex renovations to one-of-a-kind custom homes in subdivisions and on urban lots, lake properties and acreage.
About the Project Manager Role
As a Project Manager, you will play a key role in bridging the plan with the field. You'll partner closely with our internal team, trade partners and homeowners to execute the project from bidding through punch-list completion. This includes coordinating schedules, managing budgets, reviewing construction documents, leading job-site activity and ensuring all work aligns with plans, specifications, codes and Owen Homes' standards. You'll oversee day-to-day jobsite process, respond quickly to issues, support homeowners through the process and maintain clear, consistent communication from start to finish. Your leadership helps ensure a smooth, well organized experience and a finished home that reflects the homeowners needs, design preferences and lifestyle for many years to come.

Owen Homes' Project Manager Job Description
Purposes: To oversee the construction and manage the details on custom homes or renovation projects from the bid process to punch list completion while maintaining clear and continual communication with clients, subcontractors, vendors, Designer and internal team
Overall duties: Work with Director of Project Development and Designer to define scope of work / Review scope with and collect bids from subcontractors, vendors and Designer / Assist in developing the cost to build for each assigned project / Order materials on time / Schedule and manage subcontractors and vendors / Adhere to project schedule and budget / Supervise construction and verify it aligns with plans, specifications, codes and Owen Homes’ standards / Minimize and address onsite issues and homeowner concerns / Maintain a clean and organized jobsite / Communicate with clients and team daily / Keep Buildertrend updated with the most current and accurate calendar, job details, documents and photos / Examine all invoices on each project for approval / Work with Designer to ensure selections are completed on time with documentation and homeowner approval / Create and submit change orders / Complete job close-out processes and provide a smooth transition into warranty phase / Ensure overall client satisfaction / Assist Field Operations Manager as needed during warranty period / Track time on Buildertrend with necessary details for accounting and project analysis

Skills & Competencies Required:
- 3+ years in residential construction industry with minimum of 2-years of experience in project management
- Safe working habits as outlined in the Employee Safety Handbook to limit workplace injuries
- Good knowledge of residential building science and general construction practices
- Good knowledge of the sequential process, general components and installation methods utilized in construction
- Good knowledge of building codes and continual learning of code updates and changes
- Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform related duties and responsibilities of this job
- Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office, online ordering, PDF, Construction Management Software)
- Ability to read, interpret and explain blueprints and sketches
- Ability to identify inconsistencies or issues between blueprints, material specifications and construction
- Understanding of proper use of basic construction hand/power tools and equipment
- Understanding of math functions and calculations involving fractions
- Proven organizational and time-management skills for a high level of productivity and profitability
- Proactive and self-motivated attitude that thrives when working independently and with team
- Ability to thoroughly plan and schedule tasks/trades for effective and efficient project progression
- Excellent and effective communication skills for written, verbal and in-person correspondence
- Patience and leadership skills to adapt to ever-changing project schedules and construction needs
- Discretionary judgment to ensure client satisfaction and profitability
- Character that employs integrity, professionalism and good ethics

- High school diploma or equivalent; college degree in construction or project management preferred
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. without assistance
- Ability to lift 35 lbs. above head
- Ability to stand, sit, bend over and kneel for extended periods of time
- Ability to perform tasks requiring precision, coordination and balance
Compensation and Benefit Overview:
- Full time, exempt position (salary); expected work schedule to average 40 hours regular time/week, Monday – Thursday 9 hours and Friday 4 hours
- Starting pay is based on experience, qualifications and knowledge; ranging from $70,000 – $100,000 annually
