Description
This course will discuss the building science behind moisture intrusion in the residential environment in relation to building code requirements. Concepts include sustainability, net zero energy and durability design criteria in terms of providing fundamental information on the 2012 International Residential Code (IRC) exterior weather barrier provisions. Participants will learn through a detailed examination of the exterior wall envelope weather-barrier components, roof assembly components, and foundation elements how to avoid moisture intrusion problems and how to conform to the requirements of the 2012 IRC. This class will be of interest to designers, general and sub-contractors, building inspectors, plans examiners, architects or engineers and/or anyone working in the one-and two-family dwelling environment.
